Welcome to the Hawaii Movie Museum web site. Currently, this site is under construction.  We would, however, like to tell you what to expect in the future.

It began in 1898 when two Thomas Edison photographers spent May 10 in Honolulu making four short movies. Since that time, hundreds of films and television shows, as well as thousands of network commercials and music videos have used Hawaii as their back drop. It is this rich cinematic history that the Hawaii Movie Museum will celebrate.

Owned and supported by Hawaii Movie Tours, the Museum will include many props and displays of many of Hawaii's most famous features, as well as some not so famous bombs. Created in 1996, Hawaii Movie Tours is the first and only tour dedicated to this fascinating film history.

Construction of the Hawaii Movie Museum should begin in January of 2004 on the island of Kauai, with completion scheduled for that summer (contingent, of course, on permit approvals). Housed in a new building being erected specifically to be the prime location for the museum as well as Hawaii Movie Tours, it is sure to be a must stop for those who love the movies.

Since its' inception, Hawaii Movie Tours has been acquiring hundreds of collectibles related directly to Hawaii made movies. That process continues in earnest as we approach construction of the facility. In addition, we are receiving help, knowledge and advice from many of those who have been involved in the filming industry over the years in Hawaii, as well as historians of this fascinating part of Hawaii's history. As we develop this website, homage will be paid to those people responsible for making Hawaii one of the most filmed South Pacific paradises on Earth.
